Hi – I’m a wife and a mum of two fabulous kids and we’re lucky enough to have one of each! My daughter is 7 and my son is 5. I began sewing a lot later than most who make a business out of what they are good at……
My mum has always sewed, I grew up with her making soft toys, curtains, even wedding dresses, she was ALWAYS sewing but this is not where I got into sewing I just wasn’t interested when I was growing up. Even when my mum made the bridesmaid dress for my own wedding I had no urges.
When I had my daughter I had an idea it would be fun to learn how to make clothes for her, my husband bought me a sewing machine for a birthday present and it sat in the box for literally years, it looked scary! Then I had my son and still the urge didn’t take me – We did up a house and still nothing! It was either give it a go or sell the machine, so my ever patient mum came to show me how to make a Christmas stocking, I had signed up for a cushion making course and didn’t want to be the only one who didn’t even know how to turn the machine on.
I failed miserably at the cushion course but when I got home I gave it another go, everything clicked and I was off and I have never looked back, this was my thing and this is what I wanted to do. I had finally found my passion.
I have a part time office job to keep some regular income and the dining room table is my ‘office’ but I’m starting somewhere and it could lead anywhere xx
